I’ve watched the GOP debates, including the latest, South Carolina. The practical and intellectual content is about as hot as a wet pickle. The content is smoke and mirrors: nothing about banking systems, foreclosures, justice, the dismantling of free speech via the National Defense Reauthorization Act, or the poverty that creates the need for the Food Stamps program–the recipients of which are being bashed by Santorum, Gingrich, and others. The only occasional excitement comes from Ron Paul, when they allow him to speak.
Even the physical decor of the auditorium distracts from the dialogue. As the dull, idealess Mitt Romney drones on, for example, you can find temporary excitement in the red and blue walls behind him.
